Steve Sain is the Chairman and CEO for SEA. He is an international award-winning consulting engineer with over 25 years experience in energy efficiency regarding existing facilities of virtually all functions & sizes throughout the United States & several foreign countries. Mr. Sain is proficient in most all relevant technologies with world-class expertise in alternative financing of energy projects, and in energy training. In 1994, Mr. Sain was awarded “International Energy Engineer of the Year” by the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) and in 1995 was also awarded “Birmingham Engineer of the Year” (covering all engineering disciplines) by the Engineering Council of Birmingham. Mr. Sain was elected to the “Energy Management Hall of Fame” by AEE in 2005.
Mr. Sain has performed energy audits and engineering services covering over 10 million square feet of building area, most of which have been federal facilities. He is actively involved in energy conservation programs, having trained most installation-level energy managers for the U.S. Army and Air Force, worldwide. Mr. Sain has worked throughout the U.S. and Europe, Asia, South Africa, as well as other remote places teaching seminars on resource efficiency management, life-cycle costing, alternative financing, and measurement & verification of energy savings for the U.S. Navy, Army, Air Force, General Services Administration, NASA, Edison Electric Institute and the Association of Energy Engineers. Mr. Sain has served as an expert witness in multiple performance contracting lawsuits, representing either the building owner or the contractor, and winning every case.
Mr. Sain is one of the country’s top Certified Energy Managers (CEM). He teaches AEE’s “Comprehensive Training for Certified Energy Managers” course and serves as a member of the official CEM Certification Board of Directors. Mr. Sain is a registered Professional Engineer (PE) in multiple states, a Certified Energy Manager (CEM), a Certified Carbon Reduction Manager (CRM), a Certified Energy Procurement Professional (CEP), a Certified Measurement and Verification Professional (CMVP) and a Certified Life-Cycle Costing Trainer via the Department of Energy’s Federal Energy Management Program, and has a Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Tennessee Tech University.
Mr. Sain is also an active supporter of his church as a Lector, Eucharistic Minister and other functions involving Altar Servers as well as his Parish School of Religion.
