Energy and Water Assessment

Located on the Naval Support Activity (NSA) Base, Bethesda, MD, the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences is the only medical school in the Department of Defense, training all professionals and future leaders of military medicine. As a full service university campus, facilities range from classrooms, medical and research labs, administrative offices, libraries and auditoriums to living quarters.

As a part of a two-phased Energy and Water Audit conducted for the Naval District Washington, SEA completed Energy and Water Audits for 1.1 million square feet of the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences (USUHS) in Bethesda, Maryland. SEA’s audit team developed facility assessments of existing conditions while investigating all of the building systems, equipment and envelope. ECMs were evaluated for an array of potential measures, including lighting, HVAC, envelope, space conditioning, water conservation, and solar power generation. Some of the major recommendations included:
