NSA Panama City

Energy and Water Assessment

Location: Panama City
Owner: U.S. Navy

Energy Assessments

SEA performed a comprehensive energy audit of 11 buildings representing approximately 747,022 sq. ft. at Naval Support Activity base Panama City.

Energy conservation measures identified included:

Lighting Upgrades and Controls
Plumbing Measures
HVAC Controls
HVAC Measures
Geothermal Energy (Ground Source Heat Pump)
Solar PV Measures
Retro-commissioning
Transformers
SEA identified 11 ECMs with an estimated savings of $596,116 per year.

Geothermal Energy (Ground Source Heat Pump)

In 2010 Sain Engineering Associates (SEA) performed power generation calculations and cost savings calculations to determine if power generation using geothermal energy was a viable option for NSA Panama City. The analysis led to an annual cost savings of $17,767 and an estimated implementation cost of $335,999 for ground coupled water source heat pumps on base.

Solar PV

In 2010 Sain Engineering Associates (SEA) performed power generation calculations and cost savings calculations to determine if power generation using solar energy was a viable option for NSA Panama City. The analysis led to an annual cost savings of $161,420 and an estimated implementation cost of $4,935,665 for ground-mounted solar PV panels throughout the base.
