Brooks Named to ASHRAE Board of Governors for Second Term in 2021

Sain Engineering Associates, Inc. (SEA) Director of Engineering, Jason Brooks, PE, was once again selected to serve on the Board of Governors and is actively chairing the Historical Committee for the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) for the Birmingham, AL Chapter in 2021.

“When it comes to determining where to allocate time for giving back to our industry, ASHRAE was a clear choice for me,” says Brooks. ASHRAE and its members are passionate about serving the built environment, as well as crating value and recognizing the accomplishments of others. ASHRAE is also committed to the highest ethical standards. Brooks adds, “I’m honored to serve on the Board of Governors and Chair the Historical Committee again in 2021. It allows me to preserve the best practices and teachings for those in our region, acknowledging our successes and demonstrating our work for continuous improvement and innovation.”

The ASHRAE Historical Committee sponsors, encourages and conducts research into the history of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration; encourages authorship and publication of historical articles; locates, identifies and determines locations for display or availability of items of historical significance; and gathers historical information and artifacts.

With more than 50,000 members from over 132 nations, ASHRAE is a diverse organization dedicated to advancing the arts and sciences of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration to serve humanity and promote a sustainable world. ASHRAE is comprised of 15 regions. The Birmingham Chapter resides in REgion VII, which was originally chartered in 1959 shortly after the merger of ASRE and ASHVE.

SEA has a rich history when it comes to supporting ASHRAE. Founder and Board Chairman, Steve Sain served as President of ASHRAE in 1988-1989. In 2020, Jason Brooks, PE and Eric Mobley, both of SEA were awarded with the ASHRAE Technology and Innovation Award. The work for this award was featured on the cover of the September 2020 ASHRAE Journal.
