SEA’s Jason Brooks was recognized once again for his work at ADTRAN, this time with ADTRAN’s Kelley Whalen, as winners of the 2020 American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) Technology Award for their work on the ADTRAN East Chiller Plant Optimization Project. This annual, international award is given out by ASHRAE to recognize “outstanding achievements by members who have successfully applied innovative building design in the areas of occupant comfort, indoor air quality, and energy conservation.”
The project was judged in six different categories: energy efficiency, indoor air quality and thermal comfort, innovation, operation and maintenance, cost effectiveness, and environmental impact. For each category, the project was required to demonstrate how it addressed each of these categories in an optimum manner. Brooks and Whalen received International Honorable Mention in the Commercial Buildings category. With this award, Brooks and Whalen will be recognized as ASHRAE members who provide professional and innovative solutions to complex problems.
Brooks also received Energy Engineer of the Year for Region II (Southeast U.S.) from AEE earlier this year.
