Shelton State Community College Leads The Way Towards Energy Efficiency

Sain Engineering Associates, Inc. (SEA) has become the first recipient of a two-year energy consulting services agreement from a new program created by the Alabama Post-Secondary Schools System. The program provides schools within the system a contract vehicle to implement energy efficient strategies and to reallocate funds to student resources. This program will play a significant role as schools look to comply with the 30% reduction of energy consumption as mandated by the Governor’s Executive Order # 25.

Alabama Executive Order 25

SEA was awarded the first two-year agreement in 2014 and is currently serving Shelton State Community College. The scope of services that SEA will provide includes efficiency investigation, commissioning efforts, energy data management, utility analysis, metering strategies, alternative project funding and other energy-related activities.

As Alabama continues to attract large manufacturers, skilled labor will be in high demand. The post-secondary system’s ability to supply that demand will be critical in creating well-paying jobs for Alabamians. Awarding these contracts represents a move by the post-secondary system to become more energy efficient and create a sustainable infrastructure that will support growing admissions and state-of-the-art learning environments.
